Valuation panel management firm VAS has appointed Sean Welham as Managing Director, following a successful period as Non-Executive Director where he worked closely with the leadership team to support the company's continued expansion.
Sean brings more than three decades of senior executive experience spanning commercial banking, consulting, and business transformation. His career includes leadership roles at Barclays Bank and GE Capital working in senior leadership teams across multiple sectors.
From an Account Manager at Barclays Bank, Sean progressed into commercial operations and underwriting before joining GE Capital as Regional Director.
He spent seven years in the United States in senior executive roles with responsibility for strategy and marketing across multiple business lines, later returning to the UK to lead GE Capital's largest partnership and joint venture with General Motors.
Subsequently, as Partner and Head of European Operations at IPG Group, Sean specialised in advising leadership teams on growth and transformation.
Commenting on his appointment, Sean said:
"VAS has built an exceptional reputation for quality, innovation, and service excellence. The business has a strong foundation, a talented team, and significant growth potential.
“I'm excited to lead the next chapter, working with our colleagues and partners to drive sustainable expansion and deliver even greater value across the industry."
Stephen Todd, Co-Founder of VAS, commented:
"Sean’s appointment marks an exciting new era for VAS. When Gina [May] and I co-founded the business in 2017, we never envisaged how quickly it would become what it is today.
“VAS is an important part of the lending market, working alongside our amazing valuation panel to support our lender clients and brokers.
“After working with Sean for two years, Gina and I recognised that it was vital to bring him into this senior position. He has already added significant value to the business through his previous Non-Executive Director role, and we are excited to work with him to deliver a new five-year plan to grow with our clients, whilst maintaining our high levels of service and report quality—the cornerstone of what we do.
“The appointment allows us both to concentrate on looking after our clients and delivering crucial market and property data through our continued investment in technology.”
