The MAB Foundation, Mortgage Advice Bureau’s corporate charitable foundation, is marking its first full three years of grant-giving with the launch of a one-off follow-on funding initiative worth £20,000.

Created to celebrate the lasting impact of the charities it has supported since the Foundation was established, the initiative invites every charity that has received funding up to December 2025 to apply for the one-off grant. This allows the successful organisation to use the funding in whatever way best supports its work and the communities it serves.

The programme is designed not only to provide additional funding, but to celebrate the ongoing partnerships the Foundation has built with charities delivering lasting change in their communities. It also provides an opportunity for the Foundation to better understand the long-term impact of its funding and continue evolving its grant-making approach.

Since launching in 2022, the MAB Foundation has helped raise more than £550,000 for charitable causes and supported 66 charities across the UK. In 2025 alone, 44% of grant funding supported children’s charities, a further 10% supported vulnerable young adults, and 16% supported mental health initiatives.

Every charity supported by the Foundation has been nominated by MAB staff, business partners or customers, reinforcing the organisation’s people-led approach to community impact.

A total of 57 charities were invited to apply for the funding initiative, with 35 organisations submitting applications before the April deadline. Applicants were asked to demonstrate the impact of their original grant through evidence-based submissions, including case studies, testimonials, measurable outcomes, supporting data and photography.

Following assessment by the Foundation Grant Committee, five charities will be shortlisted and invited to submit a short video showcasing the difference their work has made.

Each shortlisted charity will receive £1,000, while MAB colleagues will take part in a structured voting process to decide which organisation will receive the final £20,000 award. Funding is expected to be awarded in mid-June.

Unlike many traditional grant programmes, the funding comes with no restrictions on how it can be used. This provides charities with the flexibility to respond directly to the needs of the communities they support, whether geographic communities, disadvantaged groups, or people facing specific challenges such as SEND (special educational needs and disabilities) needs or mental health issues.

Speaking about the initiative, Andy Frankish, CEO of the MAB Foundation, said:

“The MAB Foundation has always believed in building long-term relationships with the charities we support. Being able to see the impact these organisations have achieved and giving our people the opportunity to help decide where this special funding goes next is a fitting celebration of their incredible work.

“We also felt it was important to revisit the work of the charities we have supported over the last three years to better understand how our grants have made a difference, and how we can continue to improve our grant-making in the future.

“This milestone shows us that what we’re doing is not only a good thing, but the right thing, and that it works. At the MAB Foundation, we take our social responsibility seriously, and we remain committed to helping charities not just continue their work, but grow and prosper so they can support even more people in need.”

Alongside this initiative, the MAB Foundation’s standard grant-giving programme continues, with the organisation targeting £250,000 per year in charitable funding.
