The Bridging & Development Lenders Association (BDLA) has announced Ross Gandy, Head of Business Development at Bluecroft Finance, as winner of the 2025 Benson Hersch Memorial Award, recognising outstanding contribution to the bridging and development finance sector.
The highly-regarded award, which was presented at the BDLA Annual Conference at Glaziers Hall on 12th November, recognises individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership, initiative, integrity, market awareness, and commitment to professional development. It honours the legacy of Benson Hersch, who led the BDLA from 2008–2019 and was known for driving standards and championing progress across the specialist finance sector.
Ross has played a pivotal role in shaping Bluecroft’s culture, strengthening broker relationships, and supporting the company’s rapid growth. His people-first leadership style, coupled with a performance-driven mindset, has made him a standout figure within the industry.
The Benson Hersch Memorial Award was created in tribute to the former CEO of the ASTL, who passed away in 2022. A long-standing advocate for bridging finance, Benson was known for his fairness, professionalism and behind-the-scenes influence — qualities the award seeks to recognise and honour in others.
Vic Jannels, CEO of the BDLA, commented:
“Ross embodies the very qualities that the Benson Hersch Memorial Award was created to celebrate — integrity, leadership, and a genuine commitment to raising standards across our industry. His contribution to both Bluecroft and the wider specialist finance community reflects the spirit of collaboration and professionalism that Benson championed throughout his career.”
Ross Gandy, Head of Business Development at Bluecroft Finance, said:
“It’s an honour to receive the Benson Hersch Memorial Award. Benson’s legacy means a great deal to our sector, and I’m incredibly grateful to be recognised in his name. This award reflects the culture and dedication of the entire team at Bluecroft — it’s a recognition we share together.”
