Brokers wanting to discover more about some of the tax considerations that can impact on landlords’ outcomes are being invited to a free educational webinar.

Registration for the free Demystifying Tax: What a Lender Fee is Really Worth webinar, which will be held on Friday 16 October between 10am and 11am, is now open.

Organised by specialist lender CHL Mortgages, the webinar will be hosted by respected industry figurehead Roger Morris and will feature analysis and commentary by John McCaffrey, tax partner and head of tax at Alexander & Co Chartered Accountants.

During the webinar, Roger and John will explore topics such as lender fees and how they are treated for tax purposes, refurbishment expenditure and what may be deductible against rental profits, and family investment companies and the legal and tax considerations involved.

Roger Morris, Group Distribution Director for CHL Mortgages, said: “Brokers attending the session will have the opportunity to hear a general overview of topics including lender fees, refurbishment expenditure and family investment companies, considered in the context of buy-to-let lending and with commentary from an experienced tax professional.

“By looking beyond the headline figures, the session will highlight some of the broader tax considerations that may be relevant to landlords and explain why these may form part of the wider context when brokers and their clients consider different lending options.”
