Hanley Economic Building Society has appointed Paul Learoyd as Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Paul joins the Society’s executive team with extensive experience across the building society and wider financial services sectors, spanning operations, mortgage propositions, technology and major transformation programmes.
Most recently, he served as Digital Programme Director at West Brom Building Society where he was responsible for the delivery and operational readiness of a major platform and business transformation programme. His previous experience includes senior mortgage, proposition and transformation roles at Admiral Money, Pepper Money and Saffron Building Society, covering areas such as product development, digital strategy and operational change.
In his new role at Hanley, Paul will oversee key areas of the Society’s operations, ensuring its technology, processes and controls support colleagues and members while helping to deliver its wider business plans. He will also play an important role in strengthening operational resilience and supporting future development across the Society.
Mark Selby, CEO at Hanley Economic Building Society, said:
"Paul brings a strong mix of building society knowledge, mortgage experience and a proven record of delivering significant transformation within regulated financial services. As we continue to develop the Society, having the right operational foundations in place will be vital to how we grow while maintaining the high standards of service our members and intermediary partners expect.
“His experience will be a valuable addition to our executive team and I look forward to working closely with him.”
Paul Learoyd, Chief Operating Officer at Hanley Economic Building Society, added:
“Building societies have a clear point of difference in financial services, but protecting and strengthening that difference means continually improving how the whole organisation works. My focus will be on helping the Society build strong operational foundations, supporting colleagues to serve members well, and to deliver sustainable change without losing the personal approach that is so important to the mutual model and our members.
“It’s that opportunity that attracted me to Hanley and I’m looking forward to contributing to the Society’s next stage of development.”
