Access Financial Services has announced is entering into a partnership with Matt Chapman, widely known across the industry as The Protection Coach.
Chapman, a former adviser turned specialist trainer, has built a reputation for helping advisers transform the way they talk about protection by focusing on purpose, personal goals and real‑life client outcomes. His coaching approach is centred on confidence, clarity and consistency, with an emphasis on helping advisers have meaningful conversations that lead to better long‑term protection decisions for customers.
The Protection Coach partnership is designed to support Access FS’s growing national network of more than 280 mortgage and protection advisers, who collectively serve over 20,000 customers. Access FS positions itself as a business built on straightforward advice and a strong culture of adviser development – with a leadership team focused on innovation, training and long‑term career progression for advisers.
Over the next nine months, Chapman will work closely with Access FS’s managers and mentors, equipping them with coaching techniques they can cascade through the business.
The programme will focus on helping advisers move away from transactional sales conversations and towards deeper, goals‑based discussions that explore a client’s life plans, financial vulnerabilities and long‑term aspirations.
Karl Wilkinson, CEO and founder of Access FS, said: “Partnering with The Protection Coach is a game changer. Matt is at the top of his game and is set to help our advisers have goals-based conversations – rather than just selling. His approach fits perfectly with our mission to support advisers in delivering positive customer outcomes.”
Access FS says Chapman’s involvement is set to strengthen adviser confidence, improve protection conversations and support Access FS’s broader ambition to raise standards across the mortgage and protection market. The firm sees this partnership as a natural extension of its commitment to adviser development and customer care.
The programme begins this spring and will run through the end of the year.
The partnership comes at a time of rapid growth and investment across Access FS. The mortgage and protection brokerage has expanded its adviser community significantly in recent years, doubling adviser numbers through its academy programme – supported by a long‑term ambition to reach 1,000 advisers within three years. The business has also reported record performance, with its mortgage division posting 38% revenue growth in 2025 and advisers completing 23% more loans than the previous year.
