Stonebridge has recruited more firms than any other mortgage and protection network for the fourth year running, independent research has revealed.

The company appointed 106 AR firms in 2025, such that the network’s total AR count resulted in Stonebridge overtaking Quilter as the second largest network, FCA figures obtained by Network Consulting show.

Stonebridge now supports 707 member firms, an increase of 6.8% on 2024, having attracted more AR firms in the last 12 months than the first and third largest mortgage networks put together.

Rob Clifford, Chief Executive at Stonebridge, said: “We’re incredibly proud of the Stonebridge proposition and the success of our team. The growth we are seeing is a reflection of the level of service we provide. Not all networks are born equal and both advisers and brokerage owners are voting with their feet. That’s not going to go away.

“It’s an exciting time to be in mortgage broking, with fresh regulatory changes keeping us on our toes. Mortgage and protection firms need a network that is alert to these challenges, ready with practical advice and support, and proactive in anticipating hurdles that differ from business to business.

“We are increasingly becoming known for not just keeping brokers compliant, but investing time and money in helping member firms to achieve their business goals. The essential role of the intermediary in the UK mortgage market is assured, with more growth ahead. No intermediary firm needs to settle for sluggish support in this market.”

Stonebridge has been growing its broker membership consistently over the past eight years and arranged more than £17 billion of lending over the last 12 months. The network now employs more than 200 people, with offices in Essex and the Midlands, supporting more than 1,350 mortgage and protection advisers across the UK.

Earlier this month, Stonebridge announced the appointment of Liz Obee as its latest National Recruitment Manager, charged with helping to deliver continued growth of the network.
