With Learning at Work Week fast approaching, leading specialist lender OSB Group is supporting the national campaign that focuses on the importance and benefits of continual learning and development. The group will be hosting a variety of skill sessions during the week which includes ‘empowering your career’ and ‘cultivating confidence’ as well as promoting the vast number of in-house training opportunities on offer. This is part of OSB Group’s commitment to becoming a skills based organisation that invests in people’s careers to make them future fit.
Speaking about his own experiences, will be Jack Cope, a Business Development Manager who has been with the group for over 4 years and has really reaped the rewards of the development opportunities available to him.
After completing his A-levels, Jack began his career in financial services by joining the Broker Liaison Team (BLT). His experience with the BLT Team cemented his knowledge across a range of specialist residential and buy to let lending. As part of his in-house training programme, Jack accompanied a field-based BDM for a day which inspired him to pull together a development plan. With the support of his manager, Jack identified the areas where he needed to upskill and after just 10 months, Jack successfully applied to become an office-based BDM.
The skills Jack used in his new role which included providing integral broker support and helping guide cases through to completion meant that after 2 years, he was ready for the next step. When a field based BDM position came up, Jack successfully demonstrated he had the skills and experience to fulfil the role and has thrived.
Since joining OSB Group almost 4 years ago, Jack Cope has been promoted twice and is now part of the national field-based BDM team, covering south-east England. Supporting brokers and their customers with financial solutions from Precise and Kent Reliance for Intermediaries, Jack has also found time to give back and has mentored colleagues who are interested in learning more about his role and sales in particular.
Jack Cope, Business Development Manager, Precise and KRFI said “I feel very fortunate to work for a company that is so invested in professional development and actively encourages progression. OSB Group provide a range of support and resources such as coaching, mentoring and a fantastic in-house training programme which have really helped me to drive my career forward.
I’m looking forward to successfully completing my CeMAP qualification as my next goal which means I’ll be able to offer even more value to my brokers which is always my focus.
Simon Cockerill, Group Head of Intermediary Sales, OSB Group said: “From the outset, Jack’s personality and enthusiasm has been evident and he quickly recognised the opportunities available to grow and develop at OSB Group.
Jack has always been clear on his ambition to progress, showing strong drive to succeed through his own self-motivation. In the time Jack has been at OSB Group, his performance and results have been outstanding and it has been clear in feedback from brokers just how much value he adds.”
