The Mortgage Advice Bureau Foundation has awarded its one-off £20,000 Extra Funding Grant to Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF), a charity supporting people affected by blood cancer and their families.
The award marks three years of grant-giving by the Foundation, which has supported around 60 UK charities and raised over £550,000 since launching in 2022. Every previous grant recipient was invited to apply for the anniversary grant, with five charities shortlisted and asked to submit a video for colleagues and business partners to vote on.
ELF, which receives no government funding, uses grants to provide counselling, wellbeing services, transport to treatment, accommodation, and financial support for patients and families living with blood cancer. The charity was originally nominated for MAB Foundation funding in 2024 by The Mortgage Quarter, one of MAB's appointed representative firms.

Patients already supported by ELF spoke about what the grant will mean for others. Natasha, who was cared for over Christmas during treatment when she'd lost her independence to illness, said ELF "brought some magic back" for her and her family. Marion, who uses ELF's Transport Service, said being driven straight to treatment "removes the stress" of getting to hospital when she's unwell and spares her daughter having to take time off work.
