Bath Building Society which has been operating at the heart of the local community since 1904 has reaffirmed its commitment to suicide prevention. The company with over 90 employees has teamed up with Ripple for Business, an organisation that supports businesses across the UK to protect their staff and customers from online searches into suicide and self-harm.

Through its innovative BrowserShield, Ripple for Business helps organisations to intercept harmful online searches, guiding people in crisis to helplines and free mental health resources right in the moment they need it most.

With a strong philosophy of supporting colleagues with their physical and mental wellbeing, the renewal of Ripple BrowserShield adds to the ongoing promise from Bath Building Society to provide a supportive, inclusive, and rewarding environment that encourages personal growth, professional development, and a healthy work-life balance.

Richard Ingle, CEO of Bath Building Society, said:

“We have always played an active role in the community, supporting our Members and helping to build a better future together. Deploying Ripple technology across our workstations has strengthened our colleague wellbeing programme and provided an additional safety net, helping to ensure that no one faces their darkest moments alone. We are proud to continue working with Ri;pple For Business in its vital mission to save lives, and we hope our example will encourage other building societies to do the same.”

Bath Building Society has invested in a crisis intervention tool which goes beyond traditional filtering and monitoring software. Instead of blocking content, BrowserShield intervenes with a momentary pause and then supplying vital information and a multitude of ways to get instant support. The innovative tool also allows users to remain anonymous, with no personal data collected, the tool acts as the antithesis of spyware, allowing people to gain non-judgemental support in a time of need.

David Savage CTO of Ripple for Business added:

“It is often something that no organisation wants to think about; what happens if an employee searches or stumbles across content relating to suicide or self-harm at work? With Ripple for Business, we are providing peace of mind that anybody in crisis is immediately directed towards the support they need. BrowserShield works without collecting personal data or exposing people at their moments of crisis, it is designed to work invisibly in the background and only step in when it really needs to. When organisations like Bath Building Society implement our technology, they are taking an importantstep to addressing suicide and providing tangible action on suicide prevention and we are delighted to continue working with them.”
