Specialist SME lender 365 Finance has announced George Visser as its new Chief Risk Officer.

Visser joins the company after 11 years at Bayport Financial Services Group, in which time he rose from being a Financial Modeller to Head of Commercial Analytics and then Group Credit Executive.

365 Finance provides SMEs across the UK and Ireland with access to fast and flexible merchant cash advance solutions. The company delivers same-day funding of between £10,000 and £500,000.

Merchant cash advances, also known as business cash advances, are a form of alternative business finance that is repaid by future debit and credit card sales. They are designed to help manage the cash flow of a business.

Visser now leads 365 Finance’s risk function, overseeing credit risk strategy, portfolio and impairment modelling, and underwriting policy. His primary objective is to ensure the company lends responsibly.

Warren Abbey, CEO at 365 Finance, said: “George is a brilliant addition to the team, and his appointment comes at a great time. 365 Finance continues to scale, and that is only possible with talented, hard-working people – George more than ticks those boxes, and he is already playing a hugely important role in bolstering our risk function, which in turn supports us on our mission to deliver the fast, flexible finance that so many SMEs rely on.”

George Visser, Chief Risk Officer at 365 Finance, added: “I’m really excited to have joined 365 Finance. SMEs are the backbone of the economy, and every business we fund is someone’s livelihood. So, getting the risk assessment right matters just as much as getting the decision fast, and I am relishing my role, which is all about ensuring we lend responsibly while still providing vital – and fast – financial support to SMEs across the UK and Ireland.”
